I just wanted to bring this up: Doing business with the MTA. I have done it as a tech. I used to apply for bids with a company back in the days for computer products. I won alot of bids. Its a tight process though, an accountant had to assist.
I know a collegue that won a MTA contract because of a computer science degree. He now has a job last thing I've heard from one of my IT firms. All he has is A+ and MCTS (Murderous microsoft test, I took it too and passed...). To anyone out there who likes computer technology get into a computer science, CIS, and certs remember, whatever experience and shoot for opps. Money to be made. Forget it if you are part of a recruiting firm that works with city agencies. No civil service test required even though they will grant you the privilage of aiming for it.
Not to sound like I'm looking for a shoulder to lean on for the haters not the point rather a message, but I am making a Nursing career change to meet what I really want to do about it and succeed. Becoming an RN.
....But to the kids, IT is it go for it! You are young, thats a good way in the MTA getting in contracts. Continue with Bachelors in CS and forget it you will make dollars with the experience on your resume. Then get the civil exam. . Something to think about. The hiring agencies has leads, call. Must have resume ready with IT certifications with CS/CIS diploma. Sell urself at the interview.
Ready for the cool story bro jokes.
