It may seem as Apple is getting ready for the big Apple, underground is what I mean. I have recently been told that Apple is expanding their Apple Pay system to support more than just credit cards, it will ssupportMetroCards, Metro North tickets and more. Apple and the MTA are planning to install NFC readers at all stations, so that people with MetroCards can just "Tap" the NFC reader with their phone and with or without their fingerprint, and the turnstile will activate. Need a refill? Apple Pay will also allow users to refill their metrocards by clicking on the info button. This extends to Metro North and Amtrack tickets, as users can also just "Tap" the NFC reader when the inspector comes and she/he can check it off! It's that simple.
