Bergen County residents will be able to comment and ask questions about potential routes for proposed bus rapid transit routes in the county at a hearing on Thursday night.

The hearing will be held starting at 5 p.m. at Bergen Community College, Phillip Ciarco Learning Center room, 102-103 Main Street in Hackensack. A presentation about an analysis and the preferred routes will be given between 6:30 and 7 p.m.

"The presentation will give an overview of the planning analysis and potential routes identified to best serve residents," said Nancy Snyder, an NJ Transit spokeswoman. "NJ Transit, Bergen County officials and the consultant team will be on hand to answer any questions and provide project information."

In some places, bus rapid transit runs like a light rail system without tracks, on a roadway separated from other traffic. In other instances, bus rapid transit is more of an express service, with limited stops. such as the Go-Bus service NJ Transit offers in Newark.

Five routes selected by a study team are under consideration. Those routes were designed to connect key transportation or other destinations such as the Montvale Park and Ride, the Secaucus Junction train station, the Meadowlands Sports Complex, several malls, Bergen Community College, and Englewood and Valley Hospitals.

The five routes under consideration are:

Montvale Park and Ride to Port Authority Bus Terminal.

Bergen Community College to Secaucus Junction train station.

Englewood Hospital to Secaucus Junction.

Garden State Plaza to Port Authority Bus Terminal.

Broadway Bus Terminal, Paterson to the George Washington Bridge Bus Station.
