Greetings everyone!
As part of the ongoing preservation effort, this evening I present to you all an opportunity to bring change - a chance to build, a chance to put your name into the history books. I present to you all the opportunity to help bring electrification to the Trolley Museum of New York. TMNY is home to a few significant pieces of vintage equipment, including R4 car 825, one-of-a-kind Whitcomb Diesel Locomotive #9, the 1897-built Oslo tram #3, and the star attraction, R16 car 6398, which is undergoing restoration on her own and has attracted quite a handful of volunteers.
Since 1983, TMNY has called the city of Kingston, New York their home, and since then, has tried to the best of its abilities to provide visitors a rich view of transit history. In the last few months, a big number of volunteers have traveled to Kingston to help out with the restoration efforts. A number of others have come from all parts to offer their services, know-how, and talent, and lend their hands to help in the restoration of several cars in the TMNY collection, including 6398. All this has encouraged and inspired the museum to pursue a massive turnaround for the year 2015 and beyond for change!
For the next sixty days, you the transit fan - from the casual fan to the transit employee...the model train / bus collector to the photographer - can help us get to the goal of bringing wire to the TMNY’s tracks in order to run and operate these magnificent pieces of machinery. Whether it is just $5...$10...$50...or even $1,000, here is your chance to help us reach our goal, bring about change, and become a part of history. 2015 will be the year for all of us fans. And YOU can help make it all happen.
