As the M.T.A. scours Albany for funding, Manhattan and Bronx politicians have come up with a new proposal to spend it: They want the transportation authority to consider building a new subway between Inwood and the Bronx.
"As discussions continue surrounding the 10 year MTA capital budget, we urge you to include a study for a subway shuttle connection to connect Washington Heights and the East Bronx," wrote Council transportation chair Ydanis Rodriguez in a letter co-signed by, among others, Rep. Charlie Rangel and Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito, who represent pieces of both Upper Manhattan and the Bronx, Rep. Jose Serrano, from the Bronx, and several others.
