DDOT had previously mentioned in the press about returning three routes to 24-hour status, especially since both they and SMART were embarrassed on their shortcomings by the story of the guy who walked over 15 miles every day he worked to get to and from his suburban job, received a ride by a total stranger and eventually got a new car given to him.
Public hearing is scheduled for Jan 23, and they have a PDF PowerPoint online of the changes. (Links below.)
I'd have to agree with most of the changes they're thinking of doing. The 34--Gratiot and 53--Woodward headway changes are pretty transparent: Trying to get things better since riders want SMART to return service into/from Downtown all day, and the "rumor" floating around (started by the RTA folks) about DDOT and SMART switching service on those routes, to end duplication between the agencies. (Not going to happen.)
