Amtrak announced that they along with the Southern Rail Commission will be looking into restoring service between Orlando and New Orleans which was truncated after Hurricane Katrina. An "inspection train" will run between New Orleans and Jacksonville starting in a couple weeks to look into the feasibility of restoring the service. There isn't word on if the Sunset Limited would run the full route again, or if a different service would run Orlando to New Orleans and the Sunset Limited would run only between Los Angeles and New Orleans.
