So it seems as if there have been some changes made at least at some depots regarding how buses are being monitored. Over the last few weeks, I have noticed numerous express buses out of Yonkers Depot holding at various bus stops to ensure that they aren't running hot. I've also been told that B/O's are basically being read the riot act if they do run hot and are being written up left and right. I guess my question is will this be the new procedure going forward, or will the union make a stink about it? This was originally started when BusTime came to Staten Island, and slowly went away, but either someone raised hell or someone has been reading this forum and decided to make some changes.
Another thing that has been happening is when buses are pulled from service, they are no longer being replaced, which means long waits for passengers, and it is something that I have been making a stink about with my elected officials. This wasn't an issue in the past, but it seems as if everything is being run from the Command Center these days, and the depots may have very little say in how certain things are done. The whole keeping buses from running hot is a good thing, but I fear that B/O's may try to retaliate by purposely driving at a snails' pace. There's already a guy who knowingly does this during rush hour to try to provoke the passengers to become so enraged that they attack him so that he can collect disability. lol Yes it is true because I've had this guy myself and he purposely sits at green lights and pull all sorts of other stunts to kill time, but of course he always manages to finish on time. I'll refrain from saying what line he drives on but he loves this one line and many folks simply avoid taking his bus and either wait for the next one or get the one before his. The whole thing is pathetic. The only people suffering as usual in this mess are the passengers. The question is what can be done on both sides to make the situation less hostile so that the passengers can receive good service?
