New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s executive budget request for 2014-2015 proposes a 1.35% increase in state operating assistance for Albany, N.Y.-based Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA).
The budget proposal would provide an additional $420,000 that brings CDTA’s 2014 funding package to $31.6 million. The agency would use the funds as part of its operating plan, which includes providing service to respond to increased demand from customers.
CDTA is on track to serve more than 16 million riders this fiscal year, its highest boarding count in 30 years. Ridership gains and network improvements are driven by an innovative transit system that provides a better way to travel throughout the Capital Region.
