Commuters could be facing 44 days of transit hell this summer under an Amtrak plan that would take out tracks in Penn Station New York for weeks at a time for infrastructure repairs, according to an engineering plan for the work obtained by Politico.
The plan backs up a statement made by Amtrak President Wick Moorman at a legislative hearing last Friday that Amtrak planned to do the work primarily on summer weekends, but there could be two to three weekday periods where some tracks would have to be shut down.
The engineering plan calls for a 19-day shut down for part of Penn Station between July 7 and 25 and another 25-day work period from August 4 to 28, according to Politico
How would you cancel/reroute Amtrak/NJ Transit/LIRR trains?
Some people were saying reroute Amtrak empire trains to GCT
NJT would have to terminal all midday/evening Raritan Valley Line trains to Newark, maybe Hoboken... all Midtown Direct trains to Hoboken.
