Metro-North workers could strike if union doesn't resolve contract dispute

Thousands of Metro-North workers are being asked to authorize a strike if the union is unable to resolve a contract dispute.
The union, Association of Commuter Rail Employees, may propose a strike to protest ongoing contract disputes and safety issues.
According to the James Fahey, the director of ACRE's executive board, its 2,400 employees, mostly engineers and conductors, have worked for nine months without contracts.
The union also says that the Metro-North Railroad violated negotiated agreements on multiple occasions.
The members are being asked to vote on the motion within the next week.
Eyewitness News reached out to the MTA for comment, but has yet to hear back.
