Passengers spotted a dead man riding on top of a subway train in the Bronx on Wednesday, cops said.
The passengers told the conductor of their grisly discovery on a northbound 6 train as it entered the Elder Ave. station at 10:18 p.m., officials said.
The man is believed to be in his 40s.
Emergency workers raced to help the man, but it was too late, cops said.
Investigators don't yet know what caused the man's death
