Greetings!
I was reading a great (but old, as it's from 1997) book called "Evolution of New York City Subways: An Illustrated History of New York City's Transit Cars, 1867-1997" by Gene Sansone. While reading through, I was looking through the R-Type Technical Data and at the bottom of page 292, there it reads in the notes:
'Car 1600 at NYC Transit Museum.'
Was this R7A car at one point considered for preservation? Was it actually set aside for the museum at one time when it retired? Or is this just an error? Either way, I find this fascinating.
Thanks for any info.
