R46 on the D?

Saw a consist of R-46s depart 59th Street southbound with a rollsign on the rear at about 6:45PM today.  Right after that, a southbound train of R-68s, also on the , arrived and was held for several minutes at the station.  I'm going to assume it's just an train with the wrong sign unless someone can confirm otherwise...
