Ok so as a recap as we all know on May 2nd on the IND Queens Bvld Line @ Broadway and 65th St. in Woodside, we had this massive derailment involving a set of R46's on the F. That very area was supposed to be slated for a multi-million dollar project to upgrade to continuous rails with proxy ties in 2015.
It was discovered that the derailment was due to broken rails and that the steel alloys used in the rails purchased was defective.
So I've noticed something while taking this video this evening:
The thing is the sound of the rails, definitely sounds way different. New rails definitely.
I know that in the 53rd Street tubes they are using a new technique to construct roadbeds using a plastic epoxy to form the ties:
