I was wondering, With some of the tracks on the flushing line being replaced, the train runs nearly silent when running over the new track, So I was wondering, why doesn't the MTA put rubber or some kind soft coating on the rails so the trains are quiet when running over jointed rails?
With an idea so easy, I can probably understand why it hasn't been implemented, is it because the 2 rails act like a common ground for the trains power? Since the 3rd rail power is + (hot) , do the 2 rails act like a - ? (Common)
Or is it because it would be a disaster during tight curves with banking since the trains trucks cant really got a good hold of the rails?
