DDOT-brass "youngster" goes riding, sees system needs

DDOT needs to think outside the route

 

Interesting article, showing some of the issues DDOT is facing and some changes they're thinking of doing.

 

Bus shown in the pictures is one of the 50 from the 2010 New Flyer D40LF group, as those seats are the "odd ducks" of the fleet (same style SMART has on the old Gilligs).  All other New Flyers and Gilligs have the stainless steel, vandal-resistant seating.

 

Route changes are slow to happen, but riders are getting more used to actually seeing buses run on time.  THAT has been the main problem for decades.  And no matter what that Union dude says, the customers aren't so mad at the frequency, it's ALWAYS been that the buses never ran according to schedule.  That's what the one customer is really referring to in talking about SMART vs DDOT drivers, because there's plenty of unfriendly characters in the driver seats of both systems.
