Five Borough Transit would cordially like to invite you to come with us to the Trolley Museum of New York for a chance to help out in the restoration of R16 car 6398. R16 car 6398 has quite a story to tell, spanning well over 20 years. And you as a transit fan could be a part of that story. We are planning to gather a group of transit fans from across the community to come along with us to help out in this subway car’s restoration. We’re aiming to make this trip up to Kingston, New York on the last Saturday of September. That would be on September the 27th. We plan to leave New York City very early in the morning and coming back later in the evening. If you think you have what it takes to help in this effort, are curious to see what goes on behind the scenes in equipment restoration, or if you just want to tag along to show your support and see what the TMNY has to offer, please message us on our page, reply with a comment, or contact Omar Pagan. This way, we have an idea of how many people we will take with us that day. Then we can see how we’ll coordinate everything for this special occasion. We also plan to create a small “donation bin” (online or mail-in, or both) where we’ll be going around the transit community and ask for a small donation ($5 or more) over a period before the last week of September. This money collected will go to the TMNY to help restore either 6398 or other transit equipment in their possession, such as R4 car 825 and IRT Low-V car 5600, as well as towards their collection of trolleys.
