Isn't SCT suppose to be recieving new buses by now? I thought they were getting about 25 new buses or so to retire the remaining 1999 Orion V diesels and the 2000 Gillig Phantoms. Is that for next year now?

New hybrid buses for the NYCT?
I was reading that in the plan's the MTA called for 75 new hybrid buses to be ordered in the next 2 or 3 years. Anyone think that this will replace some of the 2004 Orion VII OG hybrids? Also, anyone want to bet that these are going to be XDE40s?

2 women struck and killed by NYC subways
Two women were struck and killed by trains in Manhattan and Brooklyn Monday morning, police said.

HART taps Interim CEO Eagan as permanent pick (Tampa,Florida)
Florida's Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART) Board of Directors selected Katharine Eagan as the authority's new Chief Executive Officer. Eagan has been the HART Interim CEO since the previous CEO Philip R. Hale announced his retirement back in May 2014.
The decision to promote Eagan was announced after a vote by HART Board of Directors to make her the permanent HART CEO.
HART hired Eagan in 2009 as Chief of Service Development, directing service planning and scheduling, as well as marketing and community relations. During those years she helped build ridership, implement unique and targeted marketing promotions, and promote strategic route planning.
"The HART Board of Directors has been impressed with Ms. Eagan's ability to meet significant challenges in her first six months, and we are fortunate to have a seasoned professional step in with more than 17 years of experience in the transportation industry and five years at HART ," said Chairman of the HART Board of Directors Councilman Mike Suarez. "She's a consummate professional, and we're eager to move the agency forward under her leadership."
"I appreciate the confidence the HART Board of Directors has placed in my ability to lead HART," said Eagan. "This is a great opportunity to continue on the positive path to build a transportation network that meets the community's needs and I plan to ensure that HART continues delivering on the promises we have made to improve the lives of people in Hillsborough County."
Eagan distinguished herself as a results-oriented leader between FY2010 to FY2013. Under her guidance HART annual ridership grew over 20% and farebox recovery increased over 25%, despite a slight decrease in service miles. Annual van ridership improved more than 35% and fare recovery increased over 43% , with miles of service growing less than 12% and hours of service growing less than 19%. Under Eagan's leadership HART also introduced OneBusAway Tampa and Google Live technologies to empower customers.
An energetic and sought-after leader in her field, Eagan is an effective communicator with strong analytical abilities who has a track record of leading teams to achieve outstanding results. She was chosen as Tampa Chapter 36, National Association of Women in Construction's Rookie of the Year in 2012, and one of the Tampa Bay Business Journal's 25 People to Watch.
Prior to joining HART, Eagan was the Director of Service Development at the Maryland Transit Administration, and the Manager of Service Planning at Dallas Area Rapid Transit.

Subway Photo Assignment
Hey everyone,
I'm working on my final project for my photography class. I decided I'm going to take subway photos since I'm home for the week.
I was wondering if you guys had any possible locations that would be a good place to shoot. I can't just take pictures of trains in stations or anything like that. The photos have to be somewhat interesting and some have to include people.
Here are some ideas I have so far:
- Picture of the
near Broad Channel/Rockaways with bridge in the background
at 33rd/40th/46th Sts with Manhattan skyline in background
at W. 8 St/Coney Island with Ferris Wheel/beach in background
- Depth of Field shot at Bay Parkway
with train coming around the curve (station sign in focus, subway out of focus)
- Picture from north end (Front) of Queensboro Plaza upper level with
and
in station
- Picture of a person sitting on a bench at an underground station waiting for train (low vantage point)
- Picture of a person leaning against the doors looking away
- Picture at Grand Central connection btwn
and the
with slow shutter
- High vantage shot of a crowded subway car
If you have any other ideas (or would like to be a subject in a photo) let me know! Thanks!
Anyone know if #3800-3904 is still getting converted to diesel?
Anyone know if these NGs are getting repowered?
EX-Foothill Transit Orion V CNGs coming to NICE bus?
There's a rumor on Subchat that NICE bus will be getting an unknown number off Orion V CNGs (2002) from foothill tranist. If this is true, then it shows how NICE is in really lousy shape bus wise.
(A) train stuck in the snow in a Blizzard back in 2005?

Charleston Depot now has Prevosts
I saw 2490 with a Charleston Depot stick on it running up Madison on the X22 this morning. Since that was the test bus and it had been tested out of Ulmer Park and on Staten Island, apparently they're making some progress on that Prevost order.
Delta Airlines to operate flight from PHL to London Heathrow
Consider they already have a seasonal flight from Philly to Paris, this new one is part of a joint venture with Virgin Atlantic, and its part of the US Airways-American merger and a settlement with the US Justice Department for PHL
So it will be US Air, British Air, and Delta
"Storm" Movie Idea Question
Is the subway a good place to hide if a tornado of 300 MPH reaches NY?
I'm using a 3D model of a R142 10 Car Set train that gets lifted off the track and thrown into 161 Street Yard, crushing a work train and derailing a R46 that was laying up. Then the tornado reaches the Yard, and all the trains there get thrown into the air and a set of R46's gets thrown into the elevated structure of the

Next: The same tornado rips through the Bronx, demolishing the

Now, the Tornado picks up a Metro North Lime train and it gets thrown in the air and crashes into a building in Times Square, and the building falls on the street crushing and demolishing Times Square. Is this realistic?
Why no bus service over the Brooklyn Bridge?
Is there a reason why no bus line go over the Brooklyn bridge? I always wondered this. Personally, I could see the B103 getting extended to city hall over the bridge.
Staten Island Railroad/Subway Proposal Thread
Obviously, Staten Island is not as loved as the other boroughs, so what would happen if there was more than one railroad in use on Staten Island? Imo, the island should keep the Main line, revive the North Shore line, and add two north-south subway lines. I don't know where I would put the subway lines, but when I come up with an idea for the subway, I will let everyone know.
Amazon has a gift guide in the subway?
It looks like Amazon is showing a gift guide on the Go Travel Station kiosks that are spread out in stations like Grand Central and 149 Street-Grand Concourse.
I guess it might be easier to do Christmas shopping this year.
Fleet Name Training
I'd like to order training for the different fleets of buses in NYC. Thanks.
